PADI Staff Instructor Course - IDCSIANTD Recreational Trimix Course

TDI Advanced Nitrox & Decompression

Price: $895.00

Course Overview

This course will give you the specific information & skills necessary to perform stage decompression diving, while minimizing the associated risk factors. Also covered are the use of various nitrox mixtures to increase decompression efficiency and safety, gas volume management, contingency planning/procedures, common equipment requirements, gear set-up and decompression techniques.

The depth limit for this program is 150 ft.. This is an equipment and skill-intensive class for divers with an independent attitude and can do mindset. Students accepted into the program can expect the course to go as follows.

The course is broken down into two parts:

Advanced Nitrox:

  • This part of the course examines the use of EAN 21 through 100xygen) for optimal mixes to a depth of 150fsw/45msw
  • The object of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for utilizing EAN 21 through 100ygen).

Decompression Procedures:

  • This part of the course examines the theory, methods and procedures of planned stage decompression diving.
  • The objective of this course is to train divers how to plan and conduct a standard staged decompression dive not exceeding a maxium depth of 150fsw/50msw
  • The most common equipment requirments, gear set-ups, decompression techniques and decompression mixtures (including oxygen and nitrox) are presented.

Course Requirements

  • Students must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must hold an Advanced Diver or equivalent, and a basic nitrox certification.
  • Students must have at least 50 logged dives with ten deeper than 90 feet and have at least 10 Nitrox dives. ( we prefer divers with 100 logged dives and they must have experiance diving with doubles)
  • Students who do not have experiance with doubles or stage bottles may arrange additional guided dives before the course with a Technical DM or Instructor to do become familiar with the equipment.
  • All dives during the program will be skills based and students should not expect it to be a place to sorting out beginner gear issues.
  • Proof of dives may be with a log book or computer.

Equipment Requirements:

  • TDI Decompression Procedures Student Manual. TDI Advanced Nitrox Student Manual
    • TDI EAD IPO2 tables
  • Primary Cylinders. Typically manifolded twin 100 cuft or greater with volume appropriate for planned dive and student gas consumption.
  • Decompression Mix Cylinder(s)
    • Cylinder volume appropriate for planned dive and student gas consumption with pressure gauge
    • Label in accordance with TDI standards
  • Depth gauge and automatic bottom timer and or dive computer.
  • Regulators
    • Primary and alternate 2nd stage required on all primary cylinders
    • Submersible pressure gauges are required on all primary cylinders
    • All regulators ( DIN )
  • Buoyancy Compensators adequate for equipment configuration
  • Ascent Reel with lift bag / surface marker buoy.
    • Adequate for maximum planned depth.
    • Minimum of 25 LB lift bag
  • John Line and other rigging lines as dictated by site conditions
  • Oxygen Analyzer (may be supplied by the Instructor)
  • Exposure Suit adequate for the open water environment.
  • Underwater Slate and/or wetnotes

Not included in price are: Books, PO2 tables, Equipment Rental (if required), Charter boat fees, transportation or accomodation. Charters will be arranged by the instructor.

Summary of what to expect: Challenges...many challenges...every day and every dive you will be expected to know how to deal with equipment failures, lost gas scenarios, lost ascent lines, out of air situations, Drifting and doing decompression, recalculating decompression profiles on the fly above and below the water.
