OVERVIEW

ADVANCED SCUBA DIVER is a continuing education certification course for certified divers that builds on what you learned in your basic course.

It is designed to introduce divers to a variety of diving activities and to be taught entirely in an open water setting. There maybe some classroom but primarily the students do home study of the text then the instructor does on site lecture and takes up the knowledge reviews from the text. (Price does not include any applicable dive charter fee or textbook)

Required Dives

• Advanced Navigation
• Deep diving (Greater than 60 ft. to a max of 130ft.)

Elective Dive Examples

• Night Diving (very common)
• Search and recovery
• Boat diving
• Light salvage
• Peak performance buoyancy
• Exploration and underwater mapping
• Non-penetration wreck diving
• Diving for photos or video
• Instructor specified activity
• Using dive computers
  

PREREQUISITES

• Age. Minimum is 15 years. (Junior certification for ages 12 -14 years is allowed.)
• Dive Certification. Certification as a scuba diver by a recognized agency is required.
• Logged Dives: This class maybe taken immediately following basic certification, but a few dives in between certainly can help.  
• Equipment. Students shall furnish and be responsible for the care and maintenance of their own diving equipment that is adequate and in proper working order.
• Textbook. Students are required to purchase the PADI "Adventures in Diving" textbook to study for the course.
